Previous generation (2004-2008) models are affected by the issue, which involves the hose cracking due to high underhood temperatures resulting in the power steering fluid leaking, contacting the exhaust components and potentially creating smoke or a fire. Owners can expect to receive notification in the mail late next month, but you can get all the details in the release after the jump

BMW HAS CONFIRMED at this week's Beijing Motor Show that it will build its first production electric vehicle at its plant in Leipzig, Germany, with a 2013 debut planned. The Megacity EV will be sold under a new brand, opening the door to a full range of electrified BMWs. Based on the same technology featured in its recent BMW ActiveE concept, the Megacity EV is expected to feature a synchronous electric motor located in the rear axle, producing around 125kW and 250Nm of torque.

If true, this would be the first completely new vehicle added to the Prius stable, where it would join the well-known hatchback sometime in 2011. According to Reuters (which is citing the Japanese Nikkei ), this new Prius hybrid minivan may be the first such vehicle from Toyota equipped with an in-house developed lithium ion battery pack.
