I’ve got one week from today to get my 1968 Dodge Charger ready for The One Lap of America and so far things are thankfully on schedule. My Charger is my rock.

This is the Inspiration, the British steam powered car that is attempting to take the British and World land speed records (for steam vehicles). The car is constructed on a tubular steel chassis and holds four boilers which output a massive four megawatts. These force steam into the Curtis turbine engine which will produce 300bhp, enough to push the car to 200mph (in theory).
The team behind the Inspiration and the British Steam Car challenge hopes to break the current, 101 year old record of 127.659mph (1906). American Bob Barber hit 145.607mph in 1985 but it was a single run; the world record rules stipulate an average taken over two runs in opposite directions.
The attempt is planned to take place in South Africa this month, then the team will head out to the US to break the record there. Drivers Charles Burnett III (ex dragster racer) and Annette Getty shouldn’t have a problem setting a record on home ground. Britain has no official record, so just by turning up they win.

This beautiful race car is owned by a man called Gregor Marshall.
The car is a 1974 Vauxhall firenza droop snoot 2 door coupe.
When he brought it he had a massive restoration project on his hands and decided to turn it into a classic touring car.
And what a fine car it is.
I would tell you what engine it is running, but its a top secret engine according to Mr marshall.
I really like this car and i hope you do to.

TO keep a car running for many years, change the oil every 3,000 miles, says Clarence Cleveland Curtiss. His advice is not new, especially for anybody who owns a 1990 Buick, a 1980 Chevy or even a 1964 Volkswagen.
But Mr. Curtiss, 84, of Shelton, has followed the advice with the first car he ever owned, a 1929 Ford Model A; it has 200,000 miles on it and still runs.

“It’s always the worst-looking car at every car show, but it always wins trophies because of the story behind it,” he said.
Mr. Curtiss said the car was not worth much because of its condition, and he planned to leave it to his family. “I’d love to keep on with the tradition of driving the car,” said his great-grandson, Mike Zenisky, 16, of Shelton. “It’s kind of a symbol of the love my great-grandfather and great-grandmother had for each other.”
